Apple is gearing up to unveil its iPhone 17 lineup, likely scheduled for a September debut. Although the tech giant hasn’t confirmed anything yet, various leaks hint at an all-new range that may include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and a top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max — or potentially an Ultra variant. At launch, the iPhone 17 is likely to be the only variant powered by the A18 chip. In contrast, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are rumored to come packed with the more advanced A19 Pro processor. As for the freshly added iPhone 17 Air, it’s expected to operate on the regular A19 chipset.

iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max: Launch date:

Apple traditionally showcases its new iPhones during the second week of September, typically opting for a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to host the launch event. Looking at previous rollouts: the iPhone 16 was announced on Monday, September 9, 2024; the iPhone 15 dropped on Tuesday, September 5, 2023; the iPhone 14 debuted on Wednesday, September 7, 2022; and the iPhone 13 launched on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

In keeping with its usual schedule, Apple is expected to open pre-orders that same week on Friday, followed by the official release a week later. If the company sticks to its established timeline, the iPhone 17 lineup will likely be revealed between September 8 and 10. Pre-orders may go live on Friday, September 12, with retail availability kicking off on Friday, September 19.

iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max India, UAE, and the USA pricing:

The iPhone 17 series is expected to debut in India with a starting price around Rs 79,900. However, both the standard and Pro variants may see a bump in pricing. This anticipated hike is being attributed to revised trade tariffs that originated during the Trump administration. As tensions between the U.S. and China continue to rise, manufacturing iPhones in China has become more expensive, which could lead to higher retail prices globally.

In the U.S., the base model of the iPhone 17 is projected to be priced at roughly $899. Meanwhile, in the UAE, it’s likely to launch with a starting price tag of around AED 3,799.

iPhone 17 major specifications:

The iPhone 17 is expected to maintain a design nearly identical to that of the previous generation, with no significant visual upgrades on the horizon. According to leaks, Apple isn’t planning any major shifts in aesthetics this time around.

On the camera front, however, there’s a notable improvement — the front-facing camera is reportedly getting a bump to 24MP, doubling the resolution of the older 12MP selfie shooter, and promising better performance for selfies and video calls. The back of the phone will still feature a dual-lens setup, with minimal to no changes in rear camera hardware.

In terms of hardware, one potential disappointment for fans may be Apple’s decision to equip the standard iPhone 17 with the A18 chip, likely as a cost-saving move. The RAM configuration is expected to remain at 8GB, similar to its predecessor.

Another possible enhancement is the addition of a ProMotion display with a 120Hz refresh rate, bringing smoother visuals and a more responsive experience. Beyond these points, most other details remain under wraps, though more information is likely to surface through leaks as the launch date nears.

iPhone 17 Pro major specifications:

In October 2024, analyst Jeff Pu revealed that the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to feature a redesigned horizontal triple-lens rear camera system, which will include a 48MP telephoto sensor capable of delivering 3.5x optical zoom.

Both the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are likely to be powered by Apple’s top-tier A19 Pro chipset, while the standard iPhone 17 and the newly introduced iPhone 17 Air could either utilize the regular A19 chip or potentially continue with the previous-generation A18 for cost efficiency.

Interestingly, Apple may also bring aluminum frames back to its premium devices with the iPhone 17 Pro series — a design choice not seen in its flagship models since the brand began separating the Pro lineup from the base versions. In recent years, aluminum has primarily been reserved for entry-level models like the iPhone SE and last year’s iPhone 16.

iPhone 17 Pro Max major specifications:

Back in March, reports suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be around 5% thicker than its iPhone 16 Pro Max predecessor — a change likely aimed at making space for a larger battery. More recent leaks indicate that the battery capacity of the iPhone 17 Pro Max might reach 5,000mAh, an upgrade from the 4,676mAh unit found in the previous model.

Both the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are expected to feature a triple-lens rear camera setup, each offering 48MP sensors. On the front, users can look forward to a new 24MP selfie camera, a noticeable improvement over earlier models. As of now, no distinctions between the two models’ camera configurations have surfaced.

Earlier speculation hinted that the iPhone 17 Pro Max might debut with a more compact Dynamic Island than the iPhone 17 Pro and previous versions. However, more recent information suggests that this change might be postponed until next year. If the redesign does happen this year, sources claim it will likely be applied across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
