Instagram now allows you to add 20 videos and photos in a single grid. Initially Instagram had space for 10 photos and videos. Now it aims to double the numbers.

Back in 2017, Instagram had added the option to post up to 10 photos or videos in one swipeable carousel post.  The addition of photos and videos in a carousel, took the internet by storm , known by the name of ‘Photo dump.’ As ‘Photo dump’ gained popularity, Instagram now aims to fulfill its users’ choice.

An Instagram user @aplasticplant posted that Instagram will be expanding the number of photos and videos added in a single grid post.

“ Instagram now allows users to share up to 20 slides in a single post. previously, users could only add up to 10 pieces of content in each carousel post,” @aplasticplant said. He further added that this new feature is rolling out “globally today, and everyone should have access to it by the end of the week.” Each carousel post can now have up to 20 photos or videos. The carousel feature got rolled out to users in 2017.

As reported by TechCrunch, the announcement was made on Thursday. It further added that the announcement comes a day after Instagram revealed that ‘it’s making views the primary metric across all of its formats.’ These include live, carousels,  reels, stories, and photos.

Netizens react

After the post was shared, many users showcased a positive response about the upgrade. One said, ‘Looks cool.’ However, some users seemed not to be happy about it. One responded “ oh this is dangerous for me,” and another said “20 slide posts is crazy.”

Instagram might be trying to bring something like TikTok by doubling the addition of photos and videos. It can be similar to TikTok’s carousel feature, which can allow users to add/post up to 35 photos in a single post.

However, this is not the first time that Instagram has faced negative reviews from its users. A few days ago Instagram, the Meta-owned social media platform, was testing a new feature that could show ‘unskippable’ ads while you are scrolling your feeds. This proposed feature is known as ‘Ad Breaks’. Reportedly, the experimental change was rolled out to a small group of users at present. In response to this, an X (previously Twitter) user @TheDanLevy posted “Got the Instagram ‘ad break’ again and this time I clicked the info button to see their explanation. So abusive to their users to do this.”
