Giving to stiff competition to Ranveer Singh’s global audience, Avatar: Fire and Ash and Dhurandhar have locked horns at the big screen. However, no comparison remained as the Avatar franchise became worth $1 billion, after its prequels, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and Avatar (2016). In fact, it gave Disney the push to become the only production house with a $6 billion global revenue post-pandemic, ringing the bells for a very merry Christmas 2025.

James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash opened to Rs 19 crore in India, contributing to its $450 million pre-Christmas collections. According to Sacnilk, the weekend was another blockbuster with over Rs 47 crore at the box office. As it struggled to find footing on weekdays, there was a slip to below the Rs 10 crore mark on Monday and Tuesday this week.
However, as the festive spirit and Christmas Eve celebrations kicked in, Avatar: Fire and Ash crossed the benchmark. With a Rs 13.5 crore collection on Thursday, Christmas 2025, the Sam Worthington starrer officially entered the Rs 100 crore club in India.
As per a Variety report, James Cameron‘s third trip with the Na’vi people grossed $16.5 million in North America earlier this week. It received a mid-week ticket boost amid holiday season cheers, retaining its strong grip over the international audience. 3 new films, Timothee Chalamet’s ‘Marty Supreme’, musical drama ‘Song Sung Blue’ and Sony’s comedy ‘Anaconda’, have also entered the theatrical mix.

However, Avatar: Fire and Ash still stands behind Zootopia 2, which has grossed $1.3 billion worldwide, including a $993 million overseas collection. It became the second animated film, after Inside Out 2, to enter the billionaire club at the international box office.
