India’s cybersecurity agency, CERT-In, has released a high-level alert concerning numerous devices that use MediaTek processors. The notice, tagged CIVN-2025-0119, points to serious security flaws that might allow hackers to escalate user privileges or interfere with system operations.

The warning applies to a broad range of gadgets, including mobile phones, laptops, smart televisions, tablets, Wi-Fi routers, and various connected home appliances.

The CERT-In advisory, dated June 11, 2025, carries a high-severity classification. “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in the MediaTek products due to heap overflow & null pointer dereference in Bluetooth, null pointer dereference & incorrect authorisation in wlan and uncontrolled recursion in ims service.”

MediaTek has successfully identified the root of the problem and has already shared a fix with smartphone manufacturers. Users can expect the updated patch to roll out through device updates in the coming weeks.

“The MediaTek Product Security Bulletin contains details of security vulnerabilities affecting MediaTek Smartphone, Tablet, AIoT, Smart display, Smart platform, OTT, Computer Vision, Audio, and TV chipsets. Device OEMs have been notified of all the issues and the corresponding security patches for at least two months before publication. The severity of the identified vulnerabilities was conducted based on the Common Vulnerability Scoring System version 3.1 (CVSS v3.1),” the chip maker said in a statement.
