Young people aspiring to build high-paying careers in technology should focus on sharpening their artificial intelligence abilities, especially by exploring the fast-expanding world of AI-driven code generation platforms, according to billionaire Scale AI co-founder Alexandr Wang. “The key is learning how to make the most of these tools,” Wang explained during an interview on the “TBPN” podcast released September 17.
When pressed for his top guidance to the next generation, he admitted, “AI coding has completely reshaped the way I think about building software.” AI-assisted coding—sometimes referred to as “vibe coding”—lets developers create software simply by describing what they want in plain language. Platforms such as Replit and Cursor make it possible to write programs or even launch new applications without needing a background in traditional coding or computer science.

Forbes estimates Wang’s fortune at $3.2 billion, and in June he was recruited by Meta to take on the role of chief AI officer.
“It’s actually, in some ways, this incredible moment of discontinuity where, if you just happen to spend, like, 10,000 hours playing with the tools and figuring out how to use them better than other people, that’s a huge advantage,” said Wang, who launched Scale AI back in 2016, has since grown the company into a billion-dollar powerhouse, with its latest valuation pegged at $29 billion.

Wang suggests today’s teenagers should take a page from Bill Gates’ playbook by diving deep into AI coding platforms. “This is the moment,” he said on the podcast. “If you’re 13, pour all your energy into vibe coding — that’s the best way to spend your time right now.”
Businesses are ramping up their adoption of AI coding tools, with some even using them to substitute for human programmers.
