Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence venture, xAI, today unveiled its latest OpenAI and DeepSeek competitor, Grok 3. During the event, Musk described Grok 3 as “the smartest AI on Earth ” and showcased the chatbot’s advanced reasoning capabilities through several benchmark tests and graphs. Musk and his AI team claim that Grok 3’s advanced reasoning capabilities surpass existing AI models.

Grok 3 vs ChatGPT
Musk’s Grok 3 is built to compete with all the leading AI chatbots in the industry, including China’s DeepSeek and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Musk highlighted that Grok 3’s development focused on enhancing reasoning abilities, aiming to provide users with more accurate and contextually relevant responses.
Elon Musk stated that Grok3 will have daily improvements and a voice interaction feature will be added within a week. The xAI team announced the rollout of Grok3, starting today with Premium Plus subscribers on X. Premium Plus subscribers will be the first to experience Grok3’s advanced features. You need to update your X app to the latest version to access these, features.
New AI gaming studio at xAI
Musk also announced launching an AI gaming studio at xAI. “If you’re interested in joining us and developing AI-driven games, please come aboard. We’re announcing the launch tonight,” he said.
Grok 3 beats smaller AI models in AIME 2025
Grok 3’s reasoning model outperformed the smaller version on the recent AIME 2025 exam, demonstrating stronger generalisation and capability. The same smaller model performed better on last year’s exam because it had already learned the answers for previous exams.
Grok 3’s pre-training completed
The team informed that Grok 3’s pre-training was completed, and since then the team has been actively working on integrating reasoning capabilities into the current Grok 3 model. However, this integration is still in the early stages and requires more refinement. Grok 3 is currently undergoing training.
In addition to the Grok 3 reasoning model, xAI is also training a mini version of the reasoning model. The Grok 3 reasoning data can be compared alongside the mini-reasoning model. “The mini version has been trained for a longer period, and it sometimes performs slightly better than the Grok 3 reasoning model. This simply shows that there is huge potential for the Grok 3 reasoning model, as it’s still being trained.”
Grok 3 availability and how to use
A new website for Grok has been launched at Grok.com. Meanwhile, the Grok 3 update will also be available on the Grok iOS app. The app is also available to pre-register on the Google Play Store.
Grok 3 is rolling out today with Premium Plus subscribers being the first ones to access it. xAI also announced Super Grok, a separate subscription that provides the most advanced Grok capabilities and the earliest access to new features. It is available for both the Grok app and the new website, grok.com.
