Have you ever spent hours on reading a long list of mail and thought what if this could be done within minutes! Well, Google is here to solve this issue with its new feature ‘Summary cards.’ This feature can create ‘highlights’ from your entire mail. Now you don’t need to read through a long list of mails. You can just save your time, with Google’s ‘Summary cards.’
On October 2, Google announced that it will be rolling out the new feature starting from today. This feature aims to enhance interactivity in Gmail. Here’s a look at how it will change your mailing experience.
Introducing Summary cards
Google’s new feature aims to change the way you use gmail. By highlighting key points in an email, it can save a lot of time. The new feature can also improve the efficiency of Gmail, Google highlighted. Now you can go through your mails without the need to open every mail individually. In addition to this, ‘Summary cards’ can also do other tasks. This includes ‘invite others’, ‘track packages’ and even ‘get directions,’ among others.
So, how does ‘Summary cards’ work? Here’s an example of its use case. For example, if you have an order, you constantly need to track it. This could be troublesome as you need to open email after every update. Here, ‘Summary cards’ come to the rescue. It will provide you with tracking updates without the need to open the mails. These updates are done frequently in real-time. So, don’t worry you get the latest tracking updates.
The tech giant has also introduced a ‘happening soon’ section. This section will help you to get updates about anything important coming up. For example, if you received mail for an event invitation to attend, it will remind you of that. You don’t need to open the mail again and again to remember the date.
The way ahead
Moreover, Google has brought in four types of summary cards. This includes Purchases, Bills, Events and Travel. As of now, only Purchase summary cards will appear in the new format. The remaining other three summary cards are scheduled for rolling out in the coming months.
