Google Chrome will let you listen to webpages in Hindi, Bengali, and a host of other languages. The feature, reportedly dubbed “listen to this page”, is available to a few beta Android users and there’s a possibility it might be rolled out to everybody soon.

Spotted by 9to5Google on Google Chrome for Android version 125, listen to this page appears to be a quality-of-life feature aimed at giving you a quick rundown of an article, whether it be the latest in news or a recipe for a dish that you have been trying to make, through voice so you don’t have to read through it all. For all the times when reading is not an option, it’s definitely a life saver.

Google Chrome updates

Now you can listen to the text that you usually read on a website on your Android device and enjoy various playback controls. You can also play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward the text in the webpage.

You can also change the playback speed as per your choice and select your preferred voice. You can even turn on or off text highlighting and auto-scroll for a more customised listening experience.

With the new update you can choose from four different voice types: Ruby (mid-pitch, warm), River (mid-pitch, bright), Field (low-pitch, bright), and Moss (low-pitch, peaceful). Reportedly, the languages available for this feature include English, Hindi, Bengali, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
