Google Assistant with Bard, a new version of Google Assistant powered by generative AI launched recently, may be limited to Pixel smartphones and Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series devices, according to a new report from 9to5Google.

The report reveals that version 14.41 of the latest Google app beta hints at Google targeting Assistant with Bard on the upcoming Galaxy S24. It states that before the broader availability, this feature will undergo testing with select users and might be offered as an “opt-in experience.”

This would mean that users of other Android smartphones and iPhones would not be able to access the new features that Assistant with Bard offers. While they will still be able to use Google Assistant, they will not be able to access the new features that Assistant with Bard offers.

“It combines Bard’s generative and reasoning capabilities with Assistant’s personalised help. You can interact with it through text, voice or images — and it can even help take actions for you. In the coming months, you’ll be able to access it on Android and iOS mobile devices,” Google describes the feature in its blog post.

There are speculations that Google might introduce this feature within Google Labs, similar to the Search Generative Experience (SGE). The feature could first debut on the Pixel 8 series of smartphones. Following that, Assistant with Bard is expected to make its way to the Galaxy S24 lineup in 2024. Lastly, the feature could come to older Tensor-based Pixels and the Samsung Galaxy S23 series before reaching a broader audience.
