You might not need to use other search engines such as Microsoft’s Bing or Alphabet’s Google, as Meta is working on an artificial intelligence(AI)-powered search engine. As reported by The Information Meta plans to bring an AI-powered search engine.
The upcoming AI-powered search engine aims to reduce users’ dependence on other search engines they usually use. The company seems to add on more AI features for our daily tasks. Let’s have a look at what the AI-powered search engine would look like.
Meta working on AI-powered search engines
Reportedly, Meta’s search engine can provide conversational answers to users. This could range from current events to anything a user asks for. These answers will be presented with the help of Meta AI. Notably, Meta AI is the company’s chatbot on Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. Currently, Meta needs the help of other third-party search engines. But with the planned search engine, it could build its own search empire! In addition to this, Meta also announced that it has signed a multi-year deal with Reuters, last week. This deal would allow Meta AI chatbot to use the outlet’s news articles in answers.
A team has been working for about eight months to build a database of information for Meta’s chatbot, as reported by The Information. It has also highlighted that a web version of the Meta AI search engine was spotted on the web a few months back. Furthermore, it also suggested that Meta has worked on building up location data that has the ability to compete with Google Maps. However, Meta has not officially commented on this.
The way ahead
Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbots have been gaining attention for quite some time. From answering queries to suggesting new content ideas, AI chatbots can do everything. Meta started out with Meta AI, a chatbot integrated with social media platforms. Now it wants to extend it to our daily used search engine.
Well, Meta is not the first tech giant to take this initiative. Other tech companies such as OpenAI have already confirmed that it’s working on an AI search engine named SearchGPT. Also you have Google, OpenAI and Microsoft in the list of presenting you with AI-powered search engines.
