The much awaited Grok AI by Elon Musk is now available for free. Elon Musk-owned xAI has secretly rolled out the free version of Grok. The tech giant’s in-house artificial intelligence (AI) model is now available to all users on X (earlier known as Twitter). However, there could be certain limitations.
You can use Grok AI’s interface through both the desktop website and mobile app. Let’s have a look at what the AI tool has to offer.
Decoding Grok AI
Till now Grok AI was only available to the paying subscribers of X (formerly known as Twitter) on the Premium+ tier and Premium. These were priced at Rs. 1,133 and Rs. 566 per month, respectively. However, now the chatbot has been extended to all users which means you don’t need to pay. But, xAI did not make any official announcement regarding the free tier of Grok.
Now you can also test out the ‘Fun Mode’. This activates a funny side of the chatbot which can give you replies made in humourous and sarcastic manner. Grok AI can also access the Web. When using Web search, it shows you all the URLs and web pages used to prepare the answer. But there’s a limitation. Free users are limited to ten questions per two hours. Also you can just generate three images per day.
Notably, only the Grok 2 AI model is available for free users. Users can access all the capabilities of the chatbot. Please note that the AI tool was first launched in November 2023.
How to use Grok AI
So how do you use the Grok AI tool? Here’s how to use the tool:
- Start by visiting the X website. You can also open the X mobile app.
- After opening the mobile app, you can locate the Grok icon (a slash placed inside a square) at the bottom of the screen.
- If you are using the website,then the AI tool will be available on the left margin.
- Now click on the Grok icon. After that you can directly enter the chatbot’s interface.
- Now type your prompt in the text field. The text field/ space is available at the bottom of the screen.
