Apple has sent the invite to its highly anticipated iPhone 17 series launch and excitement has already gone through the roof. With four new iPhones expected to come this year, which include the iPhone 17, the slim iPhone 17 Air, a beefed-up iPhone 17 Pro and a maxed-out iPhone 17 Pro Max, the stage is expected to be a busy one on September 9. While the leaks and rumours have left almost nothing to the imagination, Apple stays silent on any details on these upcoming products. However, did Apple leave a silent teaser through that image?
While everyone is focused on Apple’s upcoming products, the teaser image caught our attention. At first glance, the Apple logo seems to be teasing the new Liquid Glass design theme that’s being celebrated in iOS 26 and all other Apple ecosystem software products. However, if you look closely and cross-check with what the rumours have established so far, it seems that the teaser image has leaked the colour variants of the upcoming iPhone 17 models.
Did Apple event teaser hint at iPhone 17 colours?
The invite, titled “Awe dropping,” features a prominent Apple logo against a vibrant, thermal-like backdrop of blue and orange hues. It seems that the design is a subtle hint about new colour options for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. One of the colours for the Pro variant could be the orange colourway, which would be a bold departure from Apple’s muted Pro finishes like Natural Titanium and Dark Blue in recent times.
The dark blue could also be one of the second new colours on the iPhone 17 Pro variants. There are hues of yellow and light blue too, suggesting some of the colourways for the vanilla iPhone 17 and the new iPhone 17 Air. The subtle shades of white and the black background also hint at the standard white and black colourways on these new phones.
Note that these are just our speculations and hence, should be taken with a pinch of salt.
iPhone 17 series leaks at a glance
One of the biggest changes to the iPhone 17 series is the arrival of a slim variant, called the iPhone 17 Air. Replacing the iPhone 16 Plus, the iPhone 17 Air could shift its focus on a slim and lean chassis, measuring just 5.5mm on its side. It will have a single rear camera, a 6.5-inch 120Hz OLED display and a new A19 chipset.
On the hardware front, leaks suggest that all four iPhone 17 models will be powered by the new A19 series chip and will finally bring the 120Hz refresh rate display to every device in the lineup, a feature previously exclusive to the Pro models. Camera upgrades are also on the way, with all models reportedly getting a new 24MP front-facing camera. The Pro and Pro Max models are also rumoured to sport a new rectangular camera bar and to feature a 48MP telephoto lens, a major upgrade from the current 12MP sensor, which could enable an impressive 8x optical zoom.
