As OpenAI’s ‘shipmass,’ continues, the artificial intelligence (AI) company has announced another update for its users. According to an official blog, for Day 11 of the 12 Days of OpenAI, the company has shifted from the phone to your computer
So, what does this mean? This means macOS users will now get an updated version of ChatGPT. OpenAI CPO Kevin Weil showcased how Mac owners using the ChatGPT desktop app will see it floating on their screen. This will be quite similar to a friendly digital sidekick. OpenAI bring new features to macOS app
According to OpenAI, the latest update of ChatGPT for macOS has the potential to support even more third-party apps. For example, ChatGPT can now read content from Apple Notion, Apple Notes, and Quip. In addition, the list of supported apps also includes BBEdit, Android Studio and AppCode, among others. Given below is the full list of new apps on your Mac which is now supported by ChatGPT:
- VS Code forks: VSCodium, VSCode Insiders, Cursor, and WindSurf;
- New IDEs: MatLab, BBEdit,Script Editor, Nova and TextMate;
- Terminal apps: Warp and Prompt
- Jetbrains IDEs: , DataGrip, PyCharm, AppCode, Android Studio, CLionGoL, IntelliJ IDEA, RubyMine, PHPStorm,, RustRover, and WebStorm;

With the new update instead of switching between tabs or opening a browser, you can now call ChatGPT. From the need to draft an email, brainstorm ideas, or even fix some code, you can do all with the new ChatGPT in your macOS.
Furthermore, ChatGPT can also create codes with the update. In line with this, OpenAI has brought a new “Working with Apps” feature. This feature allows ChatGPT to run through many apps on your computer for coding. You can give it access to apps on your Mac. This will allow it to get an insight and understand what’s going on.
