As Apple is all set for the next big event of this year, WWDC 2024, here is an expected teaser of the bunch of updates that you might be introduced to at the event. The annual developer’s conference will take place from June 10 to 14. WWDC will be starting with an opening address on June 10.
Reportedly this year WWDC is expected to go around the next-gen iOS update which is iOS 18. This might be the most significant update since the inception of iOS. Apple is also expected to bring a focus on AI.
“Apple is doubling down on in-house AI technologies and is opting for on-device processing to enhance performance and privacy. Interestingly, Apple might now release its own chatbot,” Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, explained.
What’s in store for you?
Early reports hinted that there are possibilities of Apple working with Google for Gemini. Reports from Bloomberg suggested that Apple finalised an agreement with OpenAI to bring some of its technology to the iPhone this year. Rumors happen to say that Apple plans to include ‘a popular chatbot’ powered by ChatGPT as part of its AI-focused features in iOS 18.
With iOS 18, Apple can also introduce overall AI enhancements across various first-party iPhone apps. The Notes app is expected to be powered by on-device large language models (LLMs). You can include generative suggestions and editing capabilities, among others.
With Apple all set to introduce AI features on its devices that have been long overdue now, it is expected that these features will be announced next month during Apple’s annual developer conference. Furthermore, Apple Music could offer auto-generated playlists and more.
Future plans ahead!
We might see circular home screen icons, which could be incorporated into iOS 18 as Apple is expected to take hints from its visionOS interface. Additionally, subtle design changes in the Camera app are also anticipated. Apple is also expected to bring in an AI-based upgrade of its assistant Siri.
Experts suggest that Photos app might include AI-backed editing features. With this you can change backgrounds just like the magic eraser in Pixel and other Android phones. Critics argue that this might bring in safety issues if misused. And maybe this is how we will enter into an AI led era. Who knows what more AI can do!
