Are you an ethical hacker? Then here’s your chance to get a reward from Apple. Yes you heard it right! Apple is offering a bounty of about $1 million to anyone capable of hacking its new collection of AI-focused servers. These new servers will be launched next week.

Apple offers bounty of $1 million

Reportedly, Apple is asking researchers to test security standards of the upcoming “Private Cloud Compute.” These servers will help to receive and process user requests for Apple Intelligence. This specially works when any AI task is too complex for the on-device processing of an  iPhone, iPad and Mac.

So, how does this ‘test’ work? Apple will offer access to the source code for key components of Private Cloud Compute, giving researchers an easy way to analyze the technology’s software side. If you manage to discover a way to remotely hack Private Cloud Compute and succeed in exposing a user’s data request, you can get $250,000. And if you manage  to remotely attack the servers and execute rogue computer code, you will get $1 million.

Furthermore, “To further encourage your research in Private Cloud Compute, we’re expanding Apple Security Bounty to include rewards for vulnerabilities that demonstrate a compromise of the fundamental security and privacy guarantees of PCC,” Apple concluded.

In other news Apple has finally hinted about the launch of its much awaited M4-powered Macs. The launch could bring an updated MacBook Pro with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. You can also expect redesigned Mac Mini with M4 Pro and M4 variants.

Understanding ‘Private Cloud compute’

So, why is Apple building these ‘Private Cloud Compute’? With the rising privacy concerns, Apple has taken this initiative to bring AI-focused servers. The Cupertino based tech giant designed this Private Cloud Compute server to immediately delete a user’s request once the task is fulfilled. This adds an extra layer of security in your device.

The system also has  end-to-end encryption. This means that Apple cannot uncover the requests you had made through Apple Intelligence, even though it controls the server hardware.
