If you are unable to access the network on your Airtel connection, you aren’t alone. Airtel’s network is reportedly undergoing a significant outage, with several users reporting a disruption in the service. The outage seems to have affected thousands of subscribers across several parts of the country, with major complaints emerging from cities like Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata.
Thousands of Airtel customers are unable to make calls, send messages, or access the internet. According to DownDetector, a platform that tracks service disruptions, complaints about the outage began to surge around 12:15 PM, with over 7,000 reports coming in within minutes. Frustrated customers, as usual, took to social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), to voice their concerns and complaints. Posts of subscribers complaining about the lack of network reception for calls and internet piled up, tagging Airtel’s customer care handle to take action.
Airtel subscribers took to social media to complain
While many were quick to point out that network failures are becoming a recurring issue with Airtel, others resorted to creating funny memes and jokes to get Airtel’s attention.
Airtel responds to customers
In response to the increasing number of complaints, the official Airtel Cares account on X acknowledged the issue. Airtel described it as a “temporary connectivity disruption” and assured that the teams are working to get the issue fixed.
As part of the general customer advisory, Airtel also advised its customers to restart their mobile phones after approximately one hour to restore services, if they are unable to attain service.
We checked with Downdetector as well as fellow colleagues in the Financial Express newsroom to confirm that Airtel’s network outage has been resolved. Subscribers can now access the internet and make calls.
The widespread outage followed a mega multi-network disruption on August 18 that saw networks from Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea in trouble.
