While appearing on Kamath’s WTF podcast, billionaire investor and Silicon Valley pioneer Vinod Khosla offered bold insights on the evolving role of AI. He urged young people to reconsider their traditional ideas about career planning, noting that artificial intelligence could potentially replace up to 80% of current jobs within the next five years.

AI may replace up to 80% of today’s jobs:

In a recent interview with Zerodha CEO, Khosla said, “This is going to be one of the biggest transitions humanity has ever seen. Most of the jobs you see today will be automated, but there will be so many new things to do.”

In a future dominated by artificial intelligence, Vinod Khosla sees a strong shift toward favoring generalists. When asked by Kamath whether students should focus on a specific field or explore a wider range of skills, Khosla leaned clearly toward the latter, he said, “Be a generalist. AI is going to do the narrow, specialist stuff better than you.”

AI to make healthcare and education nearly free within 25 years:

Khosla also offered a bold forecast: within the next quarter-century, advancements in AI will drive down the costs of healthcare and education to such an extent that they could become virtually free for everyone. “Imagine a world where you have free medical advice that’s as good as the best doctor, and a free education that’s as good as the best teacher,” he said. “That’s what AI can make possible.”

Vinod Khosla also predicts the decline of conventional college degrees, citing the rapid rise of AI-driven educational platforms that he says will outperform even top-tier human instructors. During his appearance on Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, Khosla envisioned a future where artificial intelligence revolutionizes access to learning, democratizes education, and reshapes traditional career paths in industries such as law, medicine, and finance.

Khosla foresees a world where intelligent AI tutors replace expensive private instructors, offering 24/7 customized education that outperforms the constraints of standard classrooms. He argues this transformation will allow individuals to dive into various disciplines effortlessly, removing the rigid time investments associated with conventional university degrees.
