The cost of making changes to Aadhaar details—whether demographic, biometric, or document-related—has been revised upwards. However, biometric updates required for children at specific age milestones will continue to be offered free of charge. According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the revised fee structure will remain in effect until September 30, 2028, after which it will undergo another review in the following month.

Updating details on an Aadhaar card will now cost more

Updating details on an Aadhaar card will now cost more, with the fee for demographic changes such as name or address revised from Rs 50 to Rs 75. Biometric modifications, which earlier required Rs 100, will now be charged at Rs 125. This is the first revision in Aadhaar update charges in almost five years.

The new rates, announced by UIDAI, will remain applicable until September 30, 2028. The revised structure covers updates related to personal details, biometrics, and supporting documents once an Aadhaar has been issued.

Aadhaar updates for newborns will continue to be provided at no cost. The revised fees are only applicable for changes to names, addresses, biometrics, and other details after an Aadhaar card has been issued. For children, biometric updates are mandatory at age five, followed by additional updates between ages five and seven, and again between fifteen and seventeen.

Home enrolment gets costlier

For individuals who cannot reach Aadhaar enrolment centres, UIDAI now offers doorstep services at a fixed cost. A home visit for enrolment or updates is priced at Rs 700, including GST. If several residents from the same household use the service, the first person will be charged Rs 700, while each additional member will incur a fee of Rs 350.
