Google transformed its homepage into a celestial playground on Thursday, unveiling an interactive doodle that celebrated the mystical Half Moon. This unique tribute takes users on an engaging journey through the lunar cycle with a fun twist — a card game where players face off against the moon itself.

In the game, participants are challenged to connect the moon’s phases into full moon pairs, testing their knowledge of the lunar cycle. Successfully matching phases earns points, and players must complete three levels to win.

Game highlights

The game features nine visually captivating boards, each offering a distinct set of challenges. To make the experience even more exciting, Google introduced four new wildcards that give players an advantage in their cosmic journey.

Beyond the game, the doodle serves as an invitation to appreciate the moon’s mesmerising path across the sky. Upon completing each level, players gain a deeper understanding of the lunar cycle, blending education with entertainment.

To extend the celebration, Google also launched an exclusive ‘Doodle Half Moon Rises’ wallpaper, allowing users to take a piece of the celestial experience with them.

A tradition of creative doodles

Google’s homepage doodles frequently honour significant global events, influential figures and cultural moments. Earlier this year, Google marked India’s Republic Day and the Paris Olympics with special doodles. Thursday’s Half Moon Doodle is another example of Google’s ability to blend artistry, innovation, and universal themes that resonate worldwide.

The doodle is available in over 20 countries, including India, the United States (US), Pakistan, the United Kingdom (UK) and more.
