While singer and actress Selena Gomez continues to keep most of the details of her wedding under wraps, she has shared a few details into what would be on the menu for the wedding. Actually, more precisely, she revealed what won’t be part of her big day with fiancé and record producer Benny Blanco.
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding menu
In a recent clip shared on Instagram by her beauty brand Rare Beauty, the Only Murders in the Building star revealed that the couple is choosing to let go of one of the most time-honoured wedding traditions — the big, tiered wedding cake.
“Whenever that day comes, I do know I don’t want a big cake,” Gomez, 33, said in the video. The video was posted with the caption, “When the day comes, it’s a reminder to make every moment yours.”
Instead of a lavish cake, Selena wants something lowkey and something that feels far more personal. “I think I’d want a mini one for just us that we can freeze,” she said. She added that her favourite comfort food, her Nana’s biscuits and gravy, would be her ideal “dessert.”
“My preferred dessert I think would be biscuits and gravy. My nana’s biscuits and gravy. That sounds like dessert to me,” she said.
Though Selena and Benny plan to skip the traditional multi-tiered cake, Gomez hasn’t entirely dismissed the symbolic gesture of preserving a slice. “I think I want a mini one for just us that we can freeze,” she added. She is referring to the tradition of saving a piece for the first anniversary.
About Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s relationship
Gomez and Blanco announced their engagement in December 2024 after several months of dating. Their relationship, which became public in late 2023, began years earlier when they were working together on music tracks like Kill ‘Em with Kindness (2015) and Trust Nobody (2017), as well as Blanco’s 2019 music video I Can’t Get Enough.
The couple, known for their shared love of food, are reportedly planning a September ceremony in California, according to Daily Mail. The wedding is expected to be a private affair with only close friends and family in attendance. Invitations have reportedly been sent to several celebrity guests, including Selena’s best friend Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce.
Despite the buzz, Blanco recently shared during a podcast appearance, “We got engaged and then we were filming music videos for our album, then it’s holidays, then right after the holidays we had to start all the promo for our stuff. Then she left to film her show Only Murders, and then I met her, then we hung out for a week, and then right after that it’s promo, and then I’m writing another book.”
He added that the wedding will be “chill” yet “amazing.”
