Salman Khan’s unwavering dedication to fitness is not new. In fact, he was the fitness icon in Bollywood even before fitness was a trend. The Sikandar actor recently opened up about his and his father Salim Khan’s diet and health routines during the premiere of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. The actor took his fans through the disciplined lifestyle of his 89-year-old father, Salim Khan, veteran screenwriter. But when it comes to diet, Salman Khan and his father are polar opposites.
Salim Khan’s diet
Speaking about his father’s remarkable energy, Salman said, “My dad, touchwood, Mashallah, he tells me that meri khuraq khatam ho gayi hai (my appetite has gone down), but he eats 2-3 parathas, then rice, the gosht (meat), then dessert, twice a day. Unka ek metabolism alag hai. Unka discipline alag hai (His metabolism and discipline are on a different level).”
But when it comes to a fitness routine, Salim Khan’s energy is unmatched. Salman praised his father’s daily commitment to fitness despite his age. He said, “So he has been walking all the way to Bandstand and back every single morning. We’re so happy to see that. We are so proud that we have a father who’s fighting it out.”
Salman Khan’s diet and nutrition
Salman also opened up about his diet and nutrition. “I’ll eat anything but won’t overeat. Like say, one spoon of rice or at max one and a half, whatever vegetables, then chicken or mutton or fish,” he said, proving that moderation is key.
Speaking on his own contribution to fitness in Bollywood, the actor remarked, “I think I was one of the first actors who really brought in the gym culture to the industry. I remember people thought it was unnecessary at first. Now you see actors and even our legends, like Dharam ji (Dharmendra), who still works out and looks incredible.”
Salman Khan’s work front
On the professional front, Salman Khan is reportedly preparing for an upcoming war drama about the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, by director Apoorva Lakhia. Apart from that, he is also in talks with filmmaker Kabir Khan for Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, a much-anticipated sequel to the 2015 blockbuster.
