Met Gala 2026: The Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts fashion’s biggest night out every year. Schedule for 4 May 2026, the Met Gala has finally rolled out its co-chairs, host committee, and committee co-chairs. This elite, invite-only fundraising event is laden with haute couture and has the entire world watching.
While 2026 marks nearly the 80th year of the ‘party of the year’, it is also the first year since 1995 that Anna Wintour won’t be Vogue’s editor-in-chief. While she retains her sought-after reign as co-chair, there have been several additions, including Beyonce, who will make a Met Gala appearance after nearly a decade.

On the first Monday of May, co-chairs Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour will welcome the guests at the Met Museum. While the Grammy winner last walked the Met Gala ramp in 2016, Nicole Kidman and Williams stunned the fans on the blue carpet earlier this year with their ‘Superfine’ looks.
Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz will also co-chair the 2026 Met Gala Host Committee, with other members including Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, LISA, Chloe Malle, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult. Additional host committee members will be announced early next year.
Role of the Met Gala co-chairs
The Co-Chairs champion the guest list and theme via public appearances and interviews. They are also closely linked with selecting decor and food, along with fundraising, sponsorships, and ticket sales. Interestingly, when it first started in 1978, a ticket to the Met Gala cost nearly $50; today, it is priced at nearly $50,000.
The host committee, on the other hand, serves as the event’s ambassadors, thus including names from across fields like fashion, entertainment, and culture. This helps in garnering support and embodying the theme. Similarly, for the co-chairs of the host committee, Vaccarello and Kravitz, this year, they serve a more prestige building role, with added leadership to unify this representation.
Met Gala 2026 theme
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is ‘Costume Art’. Curated by Andrew Bolton, it will be an exploration of the relationship between the body and clothing. The exhibition, on the other hand, is organised into a series of thematic body types, from naked to pregnant to ageing. The showcase will include one of the most historical garments and contemporary pieces from The Met’s collection.
It will be on public view from May 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027, for public viewing. However, the evening’s formal dress code will be announced later. This year, the primary sponsor for the Met Gala is Amazon’s billionaire founder, Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sanchez.
