Bollywood actress Richa Chadha, who turns 39 today, has carved a niche for herself with her fearless choice of roles and outspoken individuality – and that same spirit is reflected in the sustainable, thoughtfully designed Juhu row house she shares with actor-husband Ali Fazal.
Chadha, who made her debut in the 2008 film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! as Dolly and went on to add hits like Gangs of Wasseypur, Fukrey and Masaan to her filmography, has steadily evolved into one of the most respected and unconventional voices in contemporary Hindi cinema. Today we will take a virtual tour of her dreamy Mumbai home.
Inside Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s serene sea-facing home
Located midway between Andheri and Bandra, the Bollywood power couple moved into the property during Diwali 2020 according to the Magic Bricks. The home, a stunning row house which is close to Juhu beach and the famous Prithvi theatre, is a rented property as the actress is not a “big believer in buying properties” according to the Times of India.
The home is spacious with dedicated areas for different purposes. In a house tour for Vogue India, the couple gave an intimate look at their living space to fans and how their unique personalities have turned their house into a cozy and beautiful space. Quirky and bright-coloured furniture, and an abundance of artwork, give a pop of colour to the neutral walls, while natural light coming in through large windows bathes the rooms with brightness.
With both actors being avid readers, the walls and corners of the living room are stacked with books across a diverse range of genres. From Chomsky to Rumi to baby books to a biography about rapper Tupac – they boast an exquisite collection according to the Hindustan Times.
As dedicated pet parents, the home also has many thriving planters. Alongside wooden furniture and a commitment to living a sustainable lifestyle – reusing baby items passed down by friends like Dia Mirza and reducing plastic waste – the couple have made a space uniquely their own; Richa Chadha’s Juhu home reflects her free-spirited nature that she shares with Ali Fazal.
