Bling, glam and stardom often point to one name — Manish Malhotra. From grand Diwali parties to Bollywood’s most iconic outfits, his designs are a dream for many. But for Farah Khan’s cook Dilip, that dream unexpectedly came true. When Farah and Dilip stepped into the designer’s home, Manish Malhotra personally gifted him a pink kurta. The moment was captured in Farah’s November 24 vlog on her YouTube channel, where she also gave viewers a full tour of the designer’s stunning home.
A luxury home in the heart of Bandra
Manish Malhotra lives in a 2,750 sq ft apartment on the 22nd floor of Bhojwani Enclave in Pali Hill, Bandra. The neighbourhood is one of Mumbai’s most exclusive addresses. The designer shares the area with several well-known names, including veteran actor Saira Banu.
The home is accessed through a private lift. As soon as Farah walked into the lift, she joked that the house felt like Pali Hill’s very own “Taj Mahal.” When the lift doors opened, a grand lobby came into view. A beautiful carpet, sculpted walls and soft lighting set the tone for what was inside.
A wide white staircase with gold details leads into the main area of the home, making the entrance look like a movie set.
A living room built for films and parties
The living room is one of the most eye-catching spaces. Farah immediately pointed to a massive screen that covers almost the entire wall. She said the setup is used for watching movies, TV and sports. The room is fitted with a complete theatre sound system.
To one side of the living room is a sleek bar counter. The glossy surface and stylish seating show the designer’s love for hosting. Farah explained that Manish enjoys calling friends over for parties, and the bar area is one of the highlights of his home.
The overall design follows a palette of white, beige, cream and soft brown. Chandeliers, plush sofas, pastel furnishings and detailed artworks create a calm and elegant atmosphere. Farah noticed a tray of mogra petals on the table and shared that Manish keeps one both at his home and in his studio.
Real flowers are a major part of the decor. Several glass cases filled with fresh blooms sat on the centre table. Manish told Farah that the flowers are replaced twice a week to keep the freshness intact.
Farah was impressed by the interiors and said that in Mumbai, only two homes could compete with this one, Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia and Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat.
A balcony that feels like a palace courtyard
Manish’s home also has an outdoor lounge area. The space, filled with grey couches and greenery, offers a view of the trees from Saira Banu’s adjoining property. The shade from the trees makes the balcony feel like a garden.
Farah said it reminded her of a palace courtyard in Udaipur. The soft wind and the calm space stood out sharply against Mumbai’s busy city life far below.
The lava-themed bathroom and hotel-style kitchen
One of the most surprising rooms in the tour was the “lava-themed bathroom.” With its dark colours and unique lighting, Farah first mistook it for another room. Manish explained the theme and laughed at Farah’s reaction.
The kitchen follows the flat’s main colour theme which is cream, light brown and white. Farah said it looked like a hotel kitchen because of its organised layout and large counters.
Manish also showed her his office space and a room dedicated only to ironing clothes. The wardrobe areas, small corners and shelves around the home all reflected his attention to detail.
For viewers, the vlog offered a look not just at a designer’s stylish home, but also at his generous and friendly nature.
