Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison just took over from Elon Musk to become the richest person in the world. Seeing a more than $70 billion spike, he dethroned the Tesla CEO, who was on his way to becoming the world’s first trillionaire. After seeing a 40% surge in Oracle stock prices, the 81-year-old is now worth $393 billion, as per the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.
Known for his lavishly extravagant purchases, Ellison’s humble billionaire status has not only made him the owner of a $600 million island, but also has several luxury cars to his name. Not just the roads, Ellison’s extravagant assets also rule the sea, as he owns the eighth-largest yacht in the world, reported LA Times.
From McLaren to Ferrari: Ellison’s garage
The Oracle co-founder, as the richest man in the world, has several high-value assets to his name. Formerly known as the crown jewel of Ellison’s collection, he held the 1995 McLaren F1 for over a decade. He auctioned the Magnesium Silver US-spec car, which is worth $20 million today.
Ellison also has the limited edition Lexus LFA in his swanky garage, as per several reports. The Japanese supercar is among the only 500 models made exclusively for billionaires. Ellison has also been spotted rolling in his Audi R8 on several occasions. However, apart from owning these supercars, Ellison’s gifting favourite has been the 1996 Acura NSX-T, which several Oracle executives own today, as per VIP Fortunes.
The iconic Ferrari red flashes from his garage as Ellison is among the only 400 who own an Enzo. He once owned the Ferrari Testarossa, but he came to abandon the brand after reliability issues. Among his other practical sedans, the Lexus LS stands tall and sturdy, headlining his family and business needs. Several Internet rumours even suggest that billionaire Ellison also owns a Lamborghini Veneno and a Pininfarina Sergio.
Other extravagant assets
Jets & Yachts
His $200 million superyacht, Rising Sun, is not an ordinary water vehicle. While it has now been sold to David Geffen, it had more than 80 rooms, a cinema, and a basketball court cum helipad, as per an LA Times report. However, his flagship Musashi yacht, reportedly worth $130 million, Ellison’s has also been a part of his racing crew. Heavily investing in his team, BMW Oracle, it has been a five-time champion of the Maxi World Championship and won the America’s Cup twice.
Ellison’s humble hoop throwing does not stop with an estimated $100 million private jet collection. The owner of the $75 million Gulfstream G650, the jet is known to be one of the fastest in the market. The Oracle CEO’s collection also includes a decommissioned Soviet MiG-29 fighter jet and an Italian SIAI-Marchetti S.211.
Real Estate
If Ellison isn’t jetting around or speeding on highways in his convertible Chevrolet, he is making high-end real estate purchases. The owner of a $110 million estate in Woodside, California, the property has an exquisite Japanese aesthetic and a man-made lake. Ellison also owns more than a dozen properties along the Malibu beach, with a $65 million stretch on Carbon Beach, too. Additionally, the billionaire owns 98% of the sixth-largest Hawaiian Island, Lana’i, reportedly worth $600 million. His beachfront estate in Rhode Island and Florida, only seem routine purchases in front of this ultra luxurious transaction.
