In a heartwarming ceremony at Jharsuguda, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, dedicated 130 ‘Nand Ghars,’ symbolizing a beacon of hope for women and children’s wellbeing. These ‘modernized anganwadis,’ supported by Vedanta, serve as community hubs, aiming to accelerate the development of local communities.
Highlighting Vedanta’s commitment, Sunil Gupta, COO, Vedanta Aluminium, emphasized, “Vedanta’s Nand Ghars represent our Chairman Anil Agarwal’s vision of accelerating women and child development across India at the grassroots through focused development programs.”
Equipped with smart technology, water purifiers, clean toilets, and solar panels, the Nand Ghars embody an integrated approach to child welfare and women’s empowerment. Launched in 2015, this flagship community initiative goes beyond traditional anganwadis, providing services aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Vedanta’s extensive social interventions in education, healthcare, livelihood, skill development, sports, and culture reach around 80 villages in Jharsuguda, benefiting over 3 lakh people annually.
