With Eid al-Adha just around the corner, excitement is in the air—shopping, family gatherings, and dressing up in your festive best! But while you’re busy picking the perfect outfit or planning the feast, don’t forget to show your skin some love too. After all, who doesn’t want that natural glow on Eid day?
The good news? You don’t need expensive facials or last-minute salon visits. Just a few simple skincare steps can make a big difference. So where to start? We spoke to Dr. Reshma T. Vishnani, Consultant Dermatologist at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, who shared easy, expert-approved tips to get your skin looking fresh and radiant—right in time for Eid!
1. Start with a clean face
“Always begin with gentle cleansing,” says Dr. Vishnani. “Use a non-comedogenic face wash that suits your skin type—whether oily, dry or sensitive.” This helps remove sweat, dirt, and excess oil without irritating your skin. She also warns against harsh scrubs. “Over-exfoliating can actually damage your skin and cause dark spots, especially on Indian skin.”
2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
With the summer heat and constant air conditioning, your skin can get dry and tired. Dr. Vishnani recommends using a hyaluronic acid serum followed by a light moisturizer. “Hydrated skin looks naturally plumper and more glowing,” she says.
And if you’re fasting, don’t forget to drink lots of water between Iftar and suhoor. “What you drink shows up on your skin too,” she adds.
3. Never skip sunscreen
Even if you’re just stepping out in the evening for Eid shopping or prayers, sunscreen is a must. “Use SPF 30 or higher and reapply every 2–3 hours if you’re outdoors,” says Dr. Vishnani. Sun damage can make your skin look dull and increase pigmentation, which can be hard to reverse.
4. Be gentle with skin problems
Got a last-minute pimple or some dark spots? Don’t panic and try new products now. “Stick with ingredients your skin already knows, like niacinamide or salicylic acid,” advises Dr. Vishnani. Want an extra glow? Use a gentle fruit acid mask a few days before Eid—but don’t forget to moisturize well afterwards.
5. The day before Eid
Get enough sleep! “A good night’s sleep helps your skin repair and reduces puffiness or dark circles,” she says. You can also apply an overnight mask or a soothing aloe gel to calm your skin if it feels irritated.
6. On Eid day
Keep your skincare and makeup simple and light. “Go for breathable makeup, and use a light moisturizer and sunscreen,” says Dr. Vishnani. Carry blotting paper and a face mist if you’re heading out—it’ll keep your skin fresh all day long.
“Simple, consistent care is all you need for glowing skin,” says Dr. Vishnani. So this Eid, let your skin shine as bright as your spirit!
