The excitement surrounding Coldplay’s return to India is palpable as the British rock band prepares to perform at DY Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025. As part of their ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour, the band is able to draw huge crowds, leading to a surge in hotel prices in the area.
Concert Details and Ticket Demand
Coldplay’s performances will mark their first concerts in India in nine years, leading to an overwhelming response from fans. The initial ticket sales caused a frenzy on social media, with many fans struggling to secure tickets after long waits on BookMyShow. Prices for concert tickets have reportedly soared to Rs 3.36 lakh, reflecting the high demand for this much-anticipated event.
Hotels Increase Tariffs Dramatically
In response to the expected influx of concertgoers, hotels near DY Patil Stadium have significantly raised their tariffs. Five-star accommodations in the vicinity are now charging between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for a three-night stay—rates that surpass those typically seen during peak seasons like New Year’s Eve.
Skyrocketing Room Rates
Most five-star hotels within a 20 km radius of the venue are charging nearly Rs 1 lakh per night. For example, The Park, just 2.18 km away from the stadium, lists rates at Rs 85,849 per night on Skyscanner. Meanwhile, Marriott Executive Apartments charges ₹70,000 per night for the dates around the concert.
In Turbhe, Fern Residency is offering rooms for around Rs 2 lakh for a three-night stay during the concert. Notably, many hotels are now fully booked for the event dates, with limited options remaining.
Availability Issues for Third Show
After the initial ticket sales sold out within minutes, Coldplay announced a third concert date for January 21, 2025, due to “phenomenal demand.” However, even as the new date was added, hotel availability continued to dwindle. As of now, only the Royal Tulip Hotel seems to have rooms left for this date, while Country Inn and Suites by Radisson is charging Rs 53,000 per night.
Warning Against Ticket Scams
Amid the rush to secure tickets, BookMyShow issued a warning to fans regarding unauthorized ticket sales. They cautioned that illegal ticket scalping is prevalent and that tickets purchased from unauthorized sources could be invalid.
In a statement shared on their Instagram, BookMyShow emphasized, “It has come to our attention that unauthorized platforms are listing tickets for Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India. Please don’t fall prey to scams; BookMyShow is the only official platform for ticket sales.”
