Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’ Box Office Collection 2023 Day 4: This Diwali was extremely special for Salman Khan as he celebrated the successful opening of his latest blockbuster Tiger 3. The Salman-starrer movie was released in theatres on Diwali and it made a strong start at the domestic box office by collecting Rs 44.5 crore on the very first day.
According to an Indian Express report, the movie recorded strong collections in the first three days but it dipped to 50 per cent on the fourth day. On Tuesday the movie raked a massive Rs 44 crore and then went down to Rs 22 crore on Wednesday, the IE report mentioned.
With this collection, Tiger 3’s box office collection reached to Rs 169.5 crore net in the domestic market. The IE report mentioned that the worldwide collection of Tiger 3 stood at Rs 241.85 crore gross.
The dip in the collection must have startled the producers as the dip was on a day when most parts of the country had a holiday. It was on the day of Bhai Dooj that Tiger 3 witnessed a dip in their box office collection.
Taran Adarsh, movie critic and business analyst, took to X, formerly Twitter, about the movie and it being Bollywood’s third biggest hit of the year, until the third day, after Jawan and Pathaan, both headlined by Shah Rukh Khan.
Taran Adarsh mentioned in another tweet that the ICC World Cup 2023 semi final match between India and New Zealand may have affected the earnings on Wednesday.
There have been some big box office successes this year with blockbuster films like Pathaan, Jawan and Gadar 2. These films have set unprecedented records which Tiger 3 was expected to match. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’, a blockbuster released a day before Republic Day, set the tone for the year, earning Rs 220 crore in its initial four days. ‘Gadar 2’, arriving before Independence Day, grossed Rs 173.58 crore in the same span. Surprisingly, ‘Jawan’, sans any holiday advantage, triumphed, amassing Rs 286.16 crore domestically in its first four days.
Yash Raj Films deliberately chose Diwali’s “weakest day” for ‘Tiger 3’s release, aiming beyond opening day figures. Rohan Malhotra, YRF’s Distribution VP, highlighted the strategic decision to release on Laxmi Puja, traditionally a weaker film-release day. The film, starring Katrina Kaif, Emraan Hashmi, and Shah Rukh Khan in a reprised role from ‘Pathaan’, benefitted from this calculated move.
