The Mumbai police have provided security for comedian Kapil Sharma in the wake of the firing at his café in Canada, a senior police official said on Monday.
This increase in the actor-comedian’s security comes days after two shootings took place at his cafe in Canada amid threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang over his ties with actor Salman Khan.
Shots were fired at comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada’s Surrey for a second time this month on Friday. At least 25 gunshots were heard in the purported video of the attack that surfaced on social media.
A voice was also heard saying in the video, amid the crack of the gunshots, “… We had called the target, but he didn’t hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai.
History of the attacks
The first attack at the comedian’s newly opened Kap’s Cafe in British Columbia happened on July 10, when some employees were still inside. While no one was injured in the firing, at least 10 bullet holes were found in a window at the cafe, while another window pane had been shattered. The threats have been reportedly linked to Sharma’s association with actor Salman Khan.
Kapil is in jeopardy due to his affiliation with Salman Khan?
Goldy Dhillon, an alleged member of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack. In a social media post, he wrote, “Jai Shree Ram. Sat Shree Akaal, Ram Ram to all brothers. The firing that happened today at Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Café in Surrey has been claimed by Goldy Dhillon, affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. We called him, but he did not answer the call, so we had to take action. If he still does not respond, then we will take the next action in Mumbai soon.”
Dhillon further added that his gang will go to any length to kill any small-time producers, directors and actors who work with Salman Khan. This came after Khan appeared in the inaugural episode of the third season of Sharma’s Netflix show, which aired on June 21.
