Housefull 5 sets the stage with a dramatic Rs 13.9 crore in its advance bookings ahead of its release. Releasing on the big screens today, June 6, Housefull 5 box office collection day 1 has crossed Rs 6 crore.

A milestone for the Housefull series, Akshay Kumar headlines this sequel along with Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa and Nargis Fakhri in the lead. Iconic actors like Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff and Johnny Lever also make a memorable appearance as a comedic relief.

The light-hearted plot of the film makes its a formula entertainer across age-groups with its innuendos and slapstick comedy. Despite the wide attractiveness of the genre, the overall occupancy rate was was lower than 10% on the first Friday. With the incoming weekend, numbers are likely to increase.

Dual Endings Strategy

It has been confirmed by filmmakers that Housefull 5 will have two separate endings: Housefull A and Housefull B. As per Sacnilk reports, Housefull 5A collected nearly Rs 5.7 crore from the sale of 1,76,271 tickets across 10,087 shows, while Housefull 5B brought in around Rs 2.35 crore, selling 76,543 tickets from 7,279 shows. Together, without factoring in block seat bookings, the film has already amassed Rs 8.02 crore in advance sales.

Both Mumbai and NCR experienced identical 8% occupancy rates in Hindi, Pune showed a notch above 10% in occupancy rates across the 248 shows running on Housefull 5’s opening day. The dual-ending strategy was a rather bold move to increase intrigue about the film but the makers are yet to see how well it did for them.

A Tarun Mansukhani  directorial, Housefull 5 follows an above-average box office success with a Rs 300 crore global collection from Housefull 4. It also sits at par with Akhay Kumar’s other big budget films like Suryavanshi which promised high box office collections after advance bookings.
