Renowned and beloved Japanese animator and director Shigeki Awai, also known as Shigenori Awai, died at the age of 71. The anime community and anime lovers around the world are deeply saddened by this loss and tributes are pouring in from every corner of the world.
The animator is remembered for his remarkable contribution to the world of anime since the 1980s. He built a legacy of having directed more than 200 episodes and contributed to key animation to almost 500 projects over decades.
