Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-awaited film Thamma hit the theaters on October 21, 2025, coinciding with Diwali. The film had been one of the most talked-about releases of the year, not just because of its lead pair, but also because it expanded the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MCHU), following the massive success of Stree 2.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma brings a new supernatural twist to the franchise, this time with vampires joining the MCHU lineup that already includes witches, werewolves, and ghosts. The film has received a strong response from audiences and is now being hailed as a commercial success.

If you missed watching Thamma in theatres and are waiting to stream it online, here’s everything you need to know.

When and where to watch Thamma on OTT

According to GQ India, Thamma will stream on Amazon Prime Video, which is also the film’s official digital partner. The OTT release date hasn’t been officially announced yet, but based on the usual six-to-eight-week window for theatrical-to-digital releases, fans can expect Thamma to arrive on Prime Video around December 16, 2025.

Before that, the film will reportedly be available for Early Access rental on Prime Video from December 2, 2025, as per a report by DNA India. However, neither Maddock Films nor Amazon Prime Video have officially confirmed these dates.

Thamma cast and story

The horror-comedy stars Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok Goyal and Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka, making their first on-screen collaboration. The cast also includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Geeta Agrawal Sharma, and Faisal Malik. Fans of the MCHU were thrilled to spot a cameo by Varun Dhawan, which ties Thamma back to Bhediya and Stree 2.

The film blends quirky humour, supernatural chaos, and social satire, something the Maddock universe is known for. Viewers have praised Ayushmann’s transformation, Rashmika’s comic timing, and the film’s connection to the larger horror-comedy world that started with Stree back in 2018.

Why Ayushmann Khurrana said yes to Thamma

In an interview with ANI, Ayushmann said he took on Thamma to break away from his “boy-next-door” image. “In this film, the character I play transitions towards becoming a vampire, something I’ve never done before,” he shared. “I was very excited because I’m a big fan of this universe.”

What’s next for the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe

With Thamma doing well at the box office, Maddock Films is gearing up for the next chapters in the MCHU. Upcoming titles include Bhediya 2 and Shakti Shalini, starring Saiyaara actor Aneet Padda.

Trade analysts say Thamma is likely to maintain its steady box office run in the coming weeks before making its OTT debut. For now, fans can’t wait to see how the Maddock universe expands and whether Ayushmann’s vampire act becomes the franchise’s next cult favourite.
