‘Talvar’ box office collections: Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Talvar’ earned Rs 3 crore on first day, even though it features relatively fewer morning shows, has recorded a 25% occupancy rate on day 1 – not great, but for a story that grabbed the attention of the nation at one time, this was not expected – it has now been relegated to the back of the mind in the masses and no longer commands the front row attention it once did. A shame, considering the kind of job Irrfan Khan has done on it.
“Talvar” has received huge plaudits on its premiere which was held at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival in September. ‘Talvar’ has also received glowing reviews from the critics and is expected to pick up, though on a slower note as the weekend unfolds.
‘Talvar’ is earnestly a thrill based story featuring Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma in lead roles alongside Neeraj Kabi and Sohum Sharma.
Meghna Gulzar directed ‘Talvar’ is a feature film based on the 2008 Noida double murder case, in which a teenage girl and her family servant were found dead, with eventually her parents being convicted for the murders.
Irrfan Khan’s ‘Talvar’ is receiving huge competition from Friday’s other release, Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Singh Is Bling’. The Prabhu Dheva’s directed ‘Singh Is Bling’ has opened well and promises excellent box office collections as it has logged approximately 80% occupancy rate during morning shows on day 1.
