The fifth and final installment of Stranger Thing Season 5 will start streaming in few hours on Netflix and as Hawkins Heroes return to fight one final battle with their ‘strangest’ and nastiest adversary Vecna, stakes are higher than before this time.

With every season, the teen supernatural series gets more intense, and looking at the first five minutes of the series, the fresh season seems nothing less than bone-chilling. The first episode of Season 5 The Crawl takes us back to the 1983, when Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, vanished. Right inside the Upside Down’s forest, Will is alone and terrified, huddled inside a makeshift fort when an eerie cracking sound causes him to bolt upright.

A menacing Demogorgon is just outside and ready to attack, forcing Will to run through the forest and up a tree. The Demogorgon catches up and drags him into Vecna’s decrepit lair, made even creepier as red lightning flashes overhead.

If the first five minutes are anything to go by, the fans are in for a magnificent watch. Without further ado, here’s a look at the release date and time for Stranger Things.

What to rewatch before final season

A lot has happens in the four seasons of Strangers Things that first premiered in 2016 from disappearance of Will Byers to emergence of Vecna. If you want a quick recap, all you need to do is watch just four episodes from across all seasons.

Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, recommended four episodes that fans must rewatch before Season 5 starts streaming.

Stranger Things Season 2

Episode 4: Will The Wise
Episode 6: The Spy

“Season two is when we really started to build out the mythology and started to dive into everything, and how this was going to be an ongoing [series]. That’s where we started to really plant the seeds for the mythology, and I think probably that’s why that is as relevant as it is,” Matt said.

Stranger Things Season 4

Episode 7: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab
Episode 9: The Piggyback

“Season four is also highly relevant — ‘Massacre at Hawkins Lab’ is a good one,” he added.

There are some crucial answers hidden in Season 4 Episode 9 ‘Piggyback’ especially as the Hawkins gang fight Vecna by splitting their attack strategy. While the Russian group takes on a Demogorgon, Eleven piggybacks into Max’s mind to fight Vecna there.

“That [episode] starts unveiling some of the Upside Down mythology and starts giving some answers, and, of course, all the stuff with Henry and Eleven continues to resonate throughout season five,” Ross Duffer explained. “Those are some good ones to revisit.”
