Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety might have opened to mixed reviews from critics, but it has shrugged off all the criticism and is proving its mettle at the box office. The film started off earning Rs 6.42 cr on the opening day, beating expectations and continues to do well at the box office. Luv Ranjan-helmed Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is a fresh take on the most debatable topic of ‘bromance and romance’. Ranjan has so far managed to impress audiences, especially the younger crowd, with his take on friendship and love in his Pyar Ka Panchnama ventures. Given the impressive records of his last film, it will not be an exaggeration to say that Sonu Ki Tutu Ki Sweety is on its way to glory. The film has so far garnered Rs 36.67 cr. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted saying, ” SonuKeTituKiSweety continues to WIN HEARTS and RULE BO… SHINES BRIGHT on Tue too… Fri 6.42 cr, Sat 9.34 cr, Sun 10.81 cr, Mon 5.17 cr, Tue 4.93 cr. Total: ₹ 36.67 cr. India biz… #SKTKS.”
In spite of releasing with Welcome to New York which boasts of A-listers like Sonakshi Sinha, Diljit Dosanjh, Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh, the film hit the right chords with cinemagoers and is registering a raging performance at the box office. Starring Ranjan’s bunch of favourites, Kartik Aryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh, this film is giving other films a run for their money. If the current trend continues, the film might surpass the collection of Luv Ranjan’s last film Pyar Ka Panchnama 2 which had minted Rs 61 cr at the domestic box office.
SKTKS could face trouble from Anushka Sharma-starrer Pari which hits the theatres tomorrow. Though the genre of the film is very different from that of SKTKS, given the hype around the film, it is being estimated that the film is in for a good start. It will be interesting to see if this Luv Ranjan film can stand up to the strong hype and star power of Pari.
