Salman Khan’s recently released action-drama film Sikandar has faced a significant dip in the box office collections on its 20th day in theaters. The movie, with a Good Friday holiday, entered its fourth weekend at the box office. However, early estimates suggest that its collection will boost over the Easter holiday weekend.
According to reports, the film earned only Rs 6 lakh, making it one of its lowest earnings since its release. The movie has earned an estimated Rs 110.52 crore in its 20 days of collections, Sacnilk says. Initially, Sikandar was released with high expectations and a decent start, but the momentum has steadily declined over the past three weeks.
Sikandar premiered on March 30, strategically timed to coincide with Eid-al-Fitr, and opened strong with a first-day collection of nearly Rs 26 crore. In the following 20 days, the films saw a significant decline. Despite this, experts hoped that the movie would revive during the Good Friday holiday, but it never came.
Industry experts assumed a mix of factors for the steep drop of Sikandar at the Bollywood box office, with one linking it to rigid competition from other newly released films like Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 and Sunny Deol’s Jaat. Similarly, Kesari chapter 2 and Jaat earned Rs 7.5 and Rs 4.5 crore, respectively, on the same day.
The action movie directed by A.R. Murugadoss, has now become Salman’s lowest-performing film at the box office.
The film is now nearing the end of its theatrical run, with dwindling box office numbers and minimal footfall turnout, despite initial anticipation of high achievement in the box office collection.
