Bollywood just got itself a brand-new storyteller. Aryan Khan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, officially unveiled the preview of his much-anticipated Netflix directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood on Wednesday. While the show promises drama, intrigue and glitz, it was Aryan’s nervous charm and his father’s cheeky cameo that stole the night.

And if the glitzy Mumbai launch proved anything, it’s that the heir to Bollywood’s ‘King’ knows how to mix nerves with humour.

Taking the stage for his first-ever public speech, Aryan confessed he had been rehearsing for “three sleepless nights”. “Bohot nervous hu kyunki pehli baar main aap sabke saamne stage par aaya hu,” he admitted. Khan Jr later revealed his backup plans – the speech on a teleprompter, a handwritten copy in his pocket and even a torch, just in case. “Aur agar tab bhi mujhse mistake ho jaaye, toh Papa hain na!” he said.

Enter King Khan. Not content with just moral support, SRK strolled in with Aryan’s speech literally taped to his back, playing the ultimate hype man. Aryan went on, “And even then if I make a mistake then it is a sin and even after all this if I make a mistake then please forgive me, this is my first time.”

The Netflix series itself, though still shrouded in mystery, has already sparked buzz for its bold title and Aryan’s decision to step behind the camera rather than in front of it.

King of witty responses

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh also slipped in an update about himself. Fresh from winning the National Award for Jawan, the actor revealed he’d undergone shoulder surgery after an on-set injury during his upcoming film King. Ever the showman, he assured fans with a wink, “National award uthane ke liye mera ek hi haath kaafi hai.”
