Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and her daughter Samara faced a terrifying moment on Monday that left both of them shaken long after they stepped off their flight. Riddhima, who rarely discusses such personal incidents, she took to Instagram stories to share this scary experience and her words instantly connected with many travellers.

The flight was seconds away from landing when something unexpected happened. The plane touched the runway briefly before lifting sharply back into the air. The manoeuvre, called a “go-around,” is done by pilots when they need to reattempt landing for safety reasons. While routine in aviation, passengers are often caught off guard, especially when it happens at the very last moment.

‘Our hearts stopped for those few seconds’

Riddhima described the experience as deeply unsettling. “Today, my daughter and I experienced a moment I’ll never forget,” she wrote. “Our plane touched down and then suddenly lifted back into the sky. For those few seconds, both of our hearts stopped.”

She shared that Samara immediately looked at her with fear. “I held her hand so tightly… all I could do was stay strong for her while silently trying to steady my own breath,” she added. Though the moment was traumatising, she said she was grateful they were safe.

Her honest recounting struck an emotional chord with parents who understand how frightening unexpected travel situations can feel, especially when children are involved. After recent reports of technical glitches, travellers have become increasingly anxious about flying. Many passengers now double-check safety briefings and stay alert during takeoff and landing.

The mother–daughter bond

Riddhima, daughter of late actor Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, often posts glimpses of her warm relationship with Samara. The duo is frequently seen travelling together, celebrating festivals and spending time with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and the rest of the family.

Fans commented that the incident reminded them how unpredictable travel can be and how a child’s safety becomes the first instinctive priority for any parent.

Riddhima made headlines for helping veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi

This frightening incident came just days after Riddhima made headlines for a completely different reason. She quietly donated to the medical fund of veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi, renowned for his portrayal of Sai Baba, after he was hospitalised with severe sepsis.

When a troll accused her of donating for publicity, Riddhima responded by saying helping someone in need is ‘a blessing, not something done for attention.’ Her reply earned admiration from fans and colleagues.
