Ranbir Kapoor-Jacqueline Fernandez starrer ‘Roy’, which have become the highest opening day grosser of 2015, saw a slight jump in its box office collections to Rs 3.76 crore on first Tuesday before falling again on Thursday. After having surged ahead with good collections on Saturday, the movie’s business had dropped on Sunday and Monday.

‘Roy’ box office collections now stand at Rs 39.01 crore in five days.

Despite posting good opening day figures, ‘Roy’ witnessed a stark drop in collections on Sunday, a big day of business for any movie, due to the much anticipated India-Pakistan match at the ongoing Cricket World Cup. In fact, ‘Roy’ could collect merely Rs 7.12 crore resulting in it becoming the second highest opening weekend grosser of the year with Rs. 28.68 crore, losing the top slot to Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ that collected Rs 36.07 crore.

‘Roy’ witnessed a stark drop in box office collections on Sunday, a big day of business for any movie, due to India-Pakistan match at the Cricket World Cup.

However, the romantic thriller managed to surpass previous releases like Arjun Kapoor’s ‘Tevar’ (Rs 22.05 crore) and Amitabh Bachchan-Dhanush starrer ‘Shamitabh’ (Rs 13.25 crore) on their first weekends.

‘Roy’ will now have to depend on words of mouth to score big at the box office in the coming days before that release of Varun Dhawan-Huma Qureshi starrer ‘Badlapur’ on Friday.

The movie, which had shown good promise pre-release, has not lived up to expectations with not so good reviews from critics.
