Based on Benyamin’s 2008 bestselling novel ‘Aadujeevitham’, the survival drama ‘The Goat Life’, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, was released in theatres on March 29. The makers of the film announced on Saturday, April 6, that it has grossed over Rs 100 crore worldwide. “Achieving a great milestone, ‘The Goat Life’ has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office within nine days of its release,” the makers said in a press note.

Directed by Blessy, the real-life tale of Najeeb (Sukumaran), a Malayali immigrant labourer who is forced into slavery as a goatherd on a remote Saudi Arabian farm, is depicted in the Malayalam movie.

Blessy said that the film’s team is ecstatic and grateful by the response to the movie, and they now hope that it continues to cross borders and reach as many people as possible. “The entire team of the film has put in over a decade of their hard work and blood, sweat, and tears into making this dream a reality. The film has stayed with me for over sixteen years and it is a blessing to see it finally being out in the world and being accepted so wholeheartedly by audiences worldwide,” he added.

In an Instagram post, Sukumaran, who is the distributor of ‘The Goat Life’ in Malayalam through Prithviraj Productions, also commemorated the film’s landmark achievement. “(Rs) 100 Cr and counting at the Global Box Office! Thank you for this unprecedented success,” the 41-year-old actor posted.

Produced by Visual Romance, ‘The Goat Life’ also stars Hollywood actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, Arab actors Talib al Balushi and RikAby, and Amala Paul and K.R. Gokul in important parts. Sound design and music have been contributed by Academy Award winners, Resul Pookutty and A R Rahman, respectively.
