When the announcement of a collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and Salaar producers Hombale Films surfaced online, the internet was buzzing with excitement. With the tentative title #HrithikxHombale, rumours of actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran joining the project as the man behind the camera started doing the rounds. But is Prithviraj Sukumaran going to direct Hrithik Roshan? We find out.

Given Sukumaran’s recent acclaim for his directorial projects, particularly the latest movie, L2: Empuraan, the rumour has added fuel to the speculations around the project.

However, according to Pinkvilla, a source close to the production offered a clear clarification, dismissing the speculation. “No director has been signed yet. Please do not believe in rumours, we will officially announce all developments related to the project in due course of time,” a spokesperson for the film stated.

The official announcement of HrithikxHombale has built a lot of anticipation around the project. Hombale Films is the production house behind the large-scale movies like KGF and Salaar. Their coming together with Hrithik Roshan hints at something massive.

In a statement shared during the announcement, the production house lauded Roshan’s legacy, saying, “They call him the Greek God. He’s ruled hearts, shattered limits, and we see the phenomenon he truly is! We are proud to welcome Hrithik Roshan to the Hombale Films family for a collaboration years in the making. A tale of grit, grandeur, and glory is set to unfold, where intensity meets imagination, the Big Bang begins. #HRITHIKxHOMBALE”

Hrithik, on his part, too shared the enthusiasm. Taking to social media, he wrote, “Looking forward to this.”

While there’s no official confirmation about who the director is, it’s no surprise that Prithviraj Sukumaran’s name is being associated with the project. His directorial ventures have drawn both critical and commercial acclaim, and L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the 2019 hit Lucifer, has been a major hit. This has placed him squarely in the league of visionary filmmakers.

Meanwhile, on the acting front, Sukumaran is set to feature in Vilayath Buddha and is also part of the international project Nobody. He’s also confirmed to feature in director S.S. Rajamouli’s much-anticipated film with Mahesh Babu, tentatively titled SSMB29.

What’s next for Hrithik?

While details around HrithikxHombale remain under wraps, Hrithik is currently busy with War 2, where he reprises his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal. Slated to release on August 14, 2025, he will share screen space with RRR star Jr NTR, who plays the negative role in War 2.

Whether or not Prithviraj Sukumaran comes on board, the stage is already set for HrithikxHombale to become a blockbuster film.
