Mukkabaaz box office collection: Anurag Kashyap directorial, after an impressive weekend, witnessed a downward trend on day 5. Though the film opened to a meagre collection on opening day, the weekend trend was surely of some solace to the makers. But it looks like it is back to where it started. Inspite of good reviews, the film is witnessing a very cold response from the public and it is quite evident that the word of mouth publicity has done nothing for the film. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, ” #Mukkabaaz Fri 82 lakhs, Sat 1.51 cr, Sun 1.71 cr, Mon 81 lakhs, Tue 72 lakhs. Total: ₹ 5.57 cr. India biz.” The Vineet Kumar Singh starrer has made Rs 72 lakhs on day 5. Be it Vineet Kumar Singh as the pugnacious pugilist, Zoya Hussain as the mute damsel, Jimmy Shergill as the corrupt upper-class baddie or Ravi Kishan as the coach, every character has done justice to his or her role making it a treat to watch. But this comes as a shocker that inspite of being lauded by movie critics, the film has failed to log a better BO graph. One could be the plot which is not mass oriented other can be the lack of prominent faces.

The film once again marks Anurag Kashyap’s unconventional style of storytelling. The film, owing to the positive promotional strategies, has gained momentum on the second day. It was expected that over the week the movie will witness a push but seems like all that prediction will bear no fruit for this Anurag Kashyap directorial. Mukkabaaz is a hard-hitting and riveting tale of a pugilist who fights casteism, corruption and callousness to make it big in his profession. Vineet Kumar Singh plays the lead role in this Anurag Kashyap film. Earlier he has awed his fans with performances in films like Issaq, Gangs of Wasseypur, Ugly and Bombay Talkies. Even debutant Zoya Hussain has put up an extraordinary show as a mute girl madly in love with ‘Uttar Pradesh ka Mike Tyson’.

Thre film hit the screens on January 12 with the likes of Kaalkaandi and 1921 and has just a week more to prove its mettle. January 25 is ready to witness the most awaited face off of Akshay starrer PadMan and the controversial Padmaavat. With such competitions, Makkabaaz is bleak chances to shine.
