Hot on the heels of Tastefully Yours‘ premiere, fans of South Korean actress Go Min Si were overjoyed, knowing that their fave would be shortly returning to the K-drama world again. However, those happy thrills were soon derailed when the Sweet Home star got caught in a controversy.

Instead of feeding off the positive energy of the international success of her scrumptious romantic comedy series, co-starring Kang Ha Neul, Go Min Si was dragged down by anonymous allegations of school bullying in May. A social media post claiming that the popular actress extorted money from her classmates, verbally abused them and harassed the differently abled popped up online.

Despite her vehement denial of the allegations through her agency Mystic Story, the unverified accusations have already caught up to her and seek to pull apart her acting career.

Go Min Si and Lee Do Hyun’s K-drama reunion cancelled

K-drama enthusiasts have long been demanding that Go Min Si and Lee Do Hyun reunite for another show. The Hallyu duo briefly stepped in as each other’s love interests in the tragic romance title Youth of May. Eventually, they were cast as siblings in Netflix’s original dystopian chaos Sweet Home. Earlier this year, K-media reports revealed that she was slated to play the female lead in the upcoming drama Grand Galaxy Hotel (literal title). Months later, her co-star Lee Do Hyun was also confirmed to take on the male lead role.

However, their much-anticipated reunion was never meant to be. Had the fates aligned, this would have been Go and Lee’s third drama project together. Alas, in the wake of the actress’ recent controversy, a new casting confirmation announcement divulged that Resident Playbook star Shin Si Ah had replaced The Frog actress in Grand Galaxy Hotel.

The drama’s production company initially issued a statement about how they trusted Min Si. However, they also hinted at the possibility of responding to the situation “cautiously” since the show’s filming days had yet to kick off.

Go Min Si’s agency responds: Mystic Story has since told K-media outlet TenAsia that the Tastefully Yours actress decided to drop out of the Hong Sisters’ drama instead of going ahead with the schedule amidst the unresolved school bullying controversy. The company acknowledged that it would be better to address the matter first, resulting in amicable discussions about Go Min Si’s Grand Galaxy Hotel exit.

Both Do Hyun and Si Ah’s respective agencies YUEHUA Entertainment Korea and Management SOOP have since officially confirmed their ties to the show as well.

More about Grand Galaxy Hotel Kdrama

In light of Shin Si Ah’s introduction as the new main cast addition, reports suggested that the drama’s filming schedule had been pushed back by three months.

K-drama world’s prolific screenwriting siblings Hong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran, collectively known as the Hong Sisters, who are behind masterpieces like Alchemy of Souls and Hotel del Luna, are helming the script for the forthcoming Lee Do Hyun-starrer project. While Lee Do Hyun and Go Min Si’s onscreen reunion has been called off, the highly anticipated fantasy romance marks yet another ambitious partnership between the Hong Sisters and director Oh Choong Hwan after their work together in the IU-starrer Hotel del Luna.

Grand Galaxy Hotel, which is being touted as the sequel to the memorable 2019 South Korean TV show, is set to begin filming in the latter half of 2025. Further details related to its release window and network tie-ups have yet to be finalised.
