About Jigra
Directed by Vasan Bala, known for his work in the neo-noir thriller Monica, O My Darling, Jigra promises to deliver high-octane action and a gripping storyline. The film centers around a young woman named Satya, portrayed by Alia Bhatt, who is determined to rescue her brother Ankur from a foreign prison where he is wrongfully incarcerated. The film’s intense narrative follows Satya as she navigates treacherous paths to ensure her brother’s freedom.
Aside from Bhatt, the film features Vedang Raina (of The Archies fame) as Ankur, Telugu actor-director Rahul Ravindra making his Bollywood debut, and an ensemble cast including Aditya Nanda, Manoj Pahwa, Vivek Gomber, Sikander Kher, and Radhika Madan. Adding to the excitement, Punjabi pop icon Diljit Dosanjh makes a special cameo appearance in the film.
Box-Office Performance of Jigra
Jigra has had a promising start at the box office. According to reports from Sacnilk.com, the film collected Rs 4.55 crore on its opening day. On the second day, it saw a slight increase, raking in Rs 5 crore, bringing the total earnings to Rs 9 crore in just two days. These numbers highlight the growing anticipation around the film.According to a review by FinancialExpress.com, “‘Jigra’ emerges as a film with lofty ambitions that ultimately fall short of expectations. While Alia Bhatt delivers a commendable performance and certain scenes resonate with emotional intensity, the overall impact is diluted by a flawed screenplay. For a film centered on themes as potent as loyalty, revenge, and the strength of familial bonds, ‘Jigra’ struggles to set itself apart in a crowded cinematic landscape. As audiences continue to seek narratives that resonate on both an emotional and intellectual level, ‘Jigra’ serves as a reminder of the delicate balance required to translate compelling ideas into cinematic success.”
