OTT giant Netflix has finally launched their ‘Netflix House’ in Philadelphia. Set to open in Dallas next, this experiential entertainment has everything from endless pop-culture corridors to K-pop snacks. Boasting a few of their most popular franchises, the Netflix House is the future away from virtual reality tours.
Marked by the signature red envelope, visitors enter through the grand atrium adorned with characters from Netflix’s endless library. Be it the giant ‘Thing’ from Wednesday or Squid Games players staring in your face, it is like walking through a cinephile’s dream. Here’s a sneak peek inside The Netflix House.
The grand entryway
The big red envelope is symbolic of how Netflix used to mail DVDs around the United States. While visitors are not new to the concept of theme parks, owing to Disney and NBCUniversal, but for today’s generation to see their favourite OTT characters come to life is a new experience altogether. As you step inside the atrium, you are welcomed with a long red carpet, leading to the Netflix-red stairs.
The walls are as vibrant as can be, with a gigantic ‘Thing’ in the corridor as you are met with all sorts of Squid Games elements. Inside the Netflix House, there is a Tudum Theatre, and it is all housed conspicuously inside a department store. The Netflix House Philadelphia is located in a former Lord & Taylor department store at the King of Prussia Mall. The two-storey venue’s Tudum theatre will host screenings of its film and hold special events. It has massive experience spaces, a nine-hole mini golf course, a virtual reality area, a shop, and a Netflix Bites restaurant, with dishes based on films and shows like KPop Demon Hunters and WWE.
Immersive experience centres
The first two immersive experiences draw inspiration from the hit anime One Piece and Netflix’s popular series Wednesday. The One Piece experience functions like a live-action escape room, where visitors join a pirate crew and work together to crack puzzles and complete challenges. Wednesday, on the other hand, takes fans straight into the eerie world of the “Eve of the Outcasts” carnival — complete with quirky carnival games, a “misery-go-round,” and a murder mystery waiting to be solved. Adventurous guests might even uncover a few secret passages along the way.
