Ikkis box office collection day 1: Bollywood’s first film of the year, Ikkis, released in theatres on January 1. After a lukewarm response and a rescheduled release, the war film featuring Dharmendra faced yet another challenge, this time with a new version starring Ranveer Singh as Dhurandhar. Marking the theatrical debut of Agastya Nanda, Ikkis received rave reviews on social media, despite relatively low collections. While the New Year 2026 looks hopeful for war films, Ikkis missed the Rs 10 crore mark.

Directed by National-Award winner Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis immortalises the tale of the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, Arun Khetarpal. He laid his life for his country at the young age of 21 during the 1971 Indo-China war. Starring alongside seasoned artists like Jaideep Ahlawat, this is Agastya Nanda’s second stint since the Netflix film Archie’s, directed by Zoya Akhtar.

Ikkis collection day 1: Box office report

Ikkis, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, opened with Rs 7 crore on its first day. Released mid-week amid the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the film is set to perform better over its debut weekend. Ikkis, earlier scheduled to be released on Christmas 2025, was postponed to avoid a clash with Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday‘s rom-com ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’ and the overshadowing spirit of Aditya Dhar’s mega blockbuster of 2025. However, as per a Bollywood Hungama report, a new version of Dhurandhar was released on January 1 as per the direction of the government. The I&B Ministry had instructed the makers to mute certain sections of the film, amid backlash from the Baloch.

The occupancy rate for Ikkis reached a healthy mark and neared 32 per cent. Dominated by evening shows, Ikkis filled nearly 50 per cent of the seats for its evening shows. With more than 2000 shows in India, Ikkis received a hefty occupancy of 40 per cent across 632 shows in Delhi NCR. However, for Mumbai, the numbers hovered below 30 across the 432 shows.

Ikkis was received well in Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Bengaluru. Despite 182 shows in Surat, Ikkis only managed to fill 6.5 per cent seats in the Gujarat city. The Maddock Films production also stars Sikandar Kher and Simar Bhatia, alongside Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, and debutant Agastya Nanda.
