Emmy Awards 2025: The anthology or limited series ‘Adolescence’ made big waves at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony earlier today. Streaming live since 6 AM IST, the Emmys are television’s big night out. From movie stars to game show hosts, the award show has honoured many evergreen series like ‘Friends’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’. This year, however, Stephen Graham’s ‘Adolescence’ won big.
Not only did it have 13 nominations, it also starred the youngest nominee, Owen Cooper, as the protagonist. Based on teenage angst and the twisted world of social media, this Netflix series star, Cooper, is just 15 years old. In his inspiring Emmy Awards 2025 winner acceptance speech, he exuded motivation. He remarked that he was “nothing three years ago,” and the fact that he is even in the US comes after years of dedication.
‘You can achieve anything in life’
After receiving a 30-second applause from the audience, the 15-year-old was swelling with pride. But his words were truly inspirational. Cooper shared that he started “drama classes a couple of years ago,” and added that the Emmy Awards 2025 were a testament that, “if you listen, focus, and you step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life.”

The Adolescence star remarked that he was “nothing about three years ago – I’m here now!” Reiterating his motto about going beyond your safe space, he questioned, “Who cares if you’re embarrassed?” Ending with gratitude towards his parents, who were present at the Emmy Awards 2025, he named several co-stars and mentioned Stephen Graham, the producer and writer of the series.
