Pawan Kalyan’s much-anticipated period action drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and A. M. Jyothi Krishna, finally released on July 24 and has made a huge debut at the box office. The film has shattered previous records to become Pawan Kalyan’s highest-opening film to date.

According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected a staggering Rs 31.1 crore net in India on its release day. With an additional Rs 12.7 crore net from its premiere shows, the total day-one collection stands at an Rs 43.8 crore net, making this film as one of the most successful opening days in the actor’s career.

Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel took to X (formerly Twitter) to review the film, giving it a 3-star rating. He wrote, “Pawan Kalyan’s charisma and electrifying screen presence are the soul of the film – he completely owns every frame. Action scenes are well executed, though the VFX post-interval and screenplay should’ve been better.”

Set in 1684, Hari Hara Veera Mallu – Part 1: Sword vs Spirit tells the fictionalised tale of one man’s rebellion against the Mughal empire. According to IMDb’s synopsis, the story follows “the first Indian to orchestrate a revolt against the Mughal empire.” The story chronicles the protagonist’s early life and how he challenges the oppressive regime of military generals.
