Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma has broken his silence on the three firing incidents that took place at his Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, Canada, earlier this year.

He spoke about the matter on Wednesday during the trailer launch of his upcoming film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 in Mumbai.

Sharma said the incidents have pushed authorities in Canada to take action.

“What I feel is that the rules are there, and the police perhaps don’t have the power to control (such an incident). But when our case happened, it went to the federal government, and there was a discussion in the Canadian parliament,” he said at the event.

Speaking about the impact on his business, the comedian tried to stay positive. “In fact, after every firing incident, we got a bigger opening at the cafe. So it is all okay, god is with me,” he said.

Details of the shootings

Kap’s Cafe, which opened in July in Surrey, was first targeted on July 10, just days after its launch.

Two more shootings followed on August 7 and October 16. No one was injured in any of the attacks, and so far, no group has claimed responsibility.

He added that many people reached out to him with support. “A lot of people from there called me and said that many such incidents were happening, but when my cafe was attacked, it became news and steps are now being taken to improve law and order.”

Regardless of the attacks in Canada, Sharma said he has never felt unsafe in Mumbai or anywhere in India. “I never felt unsafe in Mumbai or in our country. There is no city like Mumbai,” he said.
